Chinese Calligraphy
Chinese calligraphy -- the world's most revered arts.
The hair used for calligraphy brushes once came from wild animals such as weasel, squirrel, badger, wolf, and the like, today horse, deer, goat, rabbit, cat, dog, and sheep are largely used. Feathers, straw, and dried grasses are also used for special brushes.
|
 | Goat's hair and wolf's hair are main types of Chinese Calligraphy brushes. The mixed hair brushes which made from different types of animal hair, and combine brown and white hairs are a special category.
The brush have a fine tip and come easily to a point. Though similar to the brush used for watercolor painting in the West, it has a finer tip suitable for dealing with a wide range of subjects and for producing the variations in line required by different styles.
